London Fashion Week: Unique Fall 2013
Topshop’s Unique line presented another RTW collection at London Fashion Week. The collection is all about oversize and prints as well as sequins and patent leather. The outfits mix fur, sequins, leather, wool and other textures that make for interesting looks.
Starting with an oversize coat paired with cropped top and a patent leather skirt the show takes a turn into print direction without abandoning the oversize tops, jackets, trousers and sweaters.
The neutral palette of the collection is spruced up with bright reds and baby pink and blue. The rest of the designs are made in black, gray, navy and brown. The prints come in gray, white and gray while and in black and white with blue and brown.
The printed pieces are balanced out with solids both neutrals and brights and the sequined ones are mixed with matte solids.
While most of the collection is casual, designed with trends in mind, a part of the collection includes dressier pieces like a dark red sequined dress, a black sequined blazer, a pink sequined skirt and other sequined pieces.
The fuzzy textures do not only come in fur. There are some fuzzy pieces in the collection that look both stylish and cozy.
Accessories and footwear is also interesting. The boots are also designed in printed and textured leather. There are also shoes with the criss cross and ankle straps. The handbags are oversize and feature interesting designs.
For the show Topshop teamed up with Google to allow audience to view it from different people’s perspectives from models to makeup artists. Wearing the ModelCam several models allowed the viewers to see what they saw on the catwalk and beyond.
