Spring 2013 Shoe Trend: Strappy Boots

Altuzarra Spring 2013

Spring 2013 shows demonstrated a lot of interesting unusual footwear designs and strappy boots are among them. The boots are edgy and eye cachy and remind me of the gladiator sandal. Only these come with the heels and definitely makes for a stand out look.

The boots maybe a strange choice for a hot summer but if you have warm Springs these may become a key focus of your outfits. They certainly do attract attention and give the edgy feel to it. At Altuzarra these boots were paired with pencil skirts and oversize jackets while Tom Ford went as far as to pair those with the evening gowns, one of which Anne Hathaway sported to Les Miserables premiere.

The boots we are focusing on come with the wide or thin straps or as in case of Tom Ford’s ones with the straps wrapped around the leg but there are certainly more boot designs for Spring 2013 spotted at Victoria Beckham, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Skaist Taylor. Their boots come with open toes and various lacing details.

These designers also paired their boots with the skirts and dressses. Alexander Wang created the harmonious looks by adding sheer stripes to his designs that echo the strappy boots as if completing the garment down to the toes.

So are these wearable or practical for that matter? Strappy boots are definitely a fashion statement but they should be worn stylishly and to the ocassion. Just above the knee skirts create a nice contrast to the revealing strappy boots. They are great at playing down the dramatic strappy boots while the boots on the contrary add an edgy touch to the otherwise traditional look.

In case strappy boots are too over-the-top for you, more subtle strappy footwear can be found in Roberto Cavalli, Edun, Haider Ackermann, and DSquared2 collections in form of ankle booties and heeled sandals.
