You already know what shoes to wear and which outfits to trash this summer. Now it is quite the time to get acquainted with the must-have bags for the hot season. There is no way you can do without this accessory, and I am pretty sure you don’t even try to. Bags are items that we are never tired of looking for. Or else, we never try to be rational when it comes to an awesome piece. And this is where the main trick lies. With so many items offered today it is super easy to get lost among the supply which does not always meet our demand. That’s why you will need some help: before you set off to enrich your bag collection, check out the tips below. They will both give you the right direction and keep from the undesired purchase.

Handbag Trends of Summer 2014

Forget about the boring pieces this summer. The more unique your bag is, the more chances you have to attract public attention. You have an opportunity to demonstrate all your artisitc nature – be creative and dig up the most outstanding item in the universe. Brands such as Holly Fulton, Paul Joe, Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo, L’Wren Scott, Celine, and Missoni all suggest the very same idea. There is no need to find matching accessories or articles of clothing – your handbag is an independent element that does not have to match the rest of your outfit.

Saucy embellishment

Various embellishments are also in vogue this year. When I say various, I mean it. It does not matter what exactly your item is decorated with: be it studs, florals, rhinestones, sequins, organza, crystals, embroidery, or patches – such a bag will rock anyway. Just make sure that one item does not feature all of the above elements, since you don’t want to be confused with a circus employee. And neither does it have to be the whole bag that is covered by one of the decorations – just a light sprinkle of sequins, for instance, will do good. Designers like Christian Dior, Marni, Burberry Prorsum, Dries Van Noten, Kenzo, Nina Ricci, Matthew Williamson, and Ungaro presented such handbags in their adorable collections.

Elegant totes

Now we come back to the shape; however, this time it is about a very specific one. A very saucy and elegant tote is ready to win your hearts this summer. It seems to be very light and easy to fiddle around, while the impressive volume will allow you to fit all your belongings. While some models are offered along with a longer belt, it is better to use the short handles. The designs vary, as always, and give one a lot of room to choose. Sonia Rykiel, Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, and N-21 offered astonishing items. Although they might look a bit unfucntional due to the flat fit, don’t worry: these bags can hold more that you can imagine.

Splash of color
Splash of color

As summer is usually associated with splash of color, it never hurts to add a couple of more shades to arrange the most terrific firework. This is exactly what Christian Dior, Emporio Armani, Chanel, Just Cavalli, Vivienne Westwood and others recommend. The best thing about these handbags is that you won’t have to spned hours trying to find matching clothing pieces. In fact, whatever you wear will perfectly fit into the ensemble, as multicolored pieces are designated to simplify your life.

Crystal white

As an alternative to the previous trend, designers  such as Marni, Viktor & Rolf, Mulberry, and N-21 present snow white bags to blow our minds. While this shade has never been outdated, this summer gives it more strength than ever. What can be more luxurious and sophisticated than a satchel or clutch in your hands that contrasts with the darkness of the breezy summer night and offsets the glowing stars and moon? Besides, summer is the only season when we can actually afford ourselves wearing such a trend. And although there are a lot of other enemies to our beloved handbags (such as dust, melted ice-cream and fresh grass), we will find a way to take care of the accessory.

Reptile skin

Now let’s focus on the texture a bit. While the handbag of your dream can be made out of any material you wish, Chloe, Hermes, Chrisitan Dior, Lanvin, Michael Kors, and Zadig et Voltaire suggest it to be reptile skin. The color palette can be extremely diverse: from classic crocodile shades to fun mixtures of turquoise, fuchsia and lemon. The shapes may also vary – as long as your piece reminds us of some crawling creature, you will rock. One warning though – watch out for Green Peace activists, who might get quite tough at times.

Precious gold

For the most aristocratic ladies who always prefer to glow and allure, Dolce & Gabbana, Sonia Rykiel, Zadig et Voltaire, Dries Van Noten, and others have designed magnificent handbags in gold. These items deserve to be called masterpieces as they take your breath away the moment you see them. As you have noticed, this trend does not offer large-sized models, which means that this would not be a smart choice for the daily use. Yet, whenever you have a party or some glamorous event, feel free to rock such an item. It will both add an exquisite look to your outfit and show off your perfect fashion sense. The only thing to pay attention to is how you match the gold bag with other accesories. You definitely don’t want to wear silver pumps and bronze bracelets along with the piece.

These were the most outstanding handbags for Summer 2014. Depending on what style you prefer or which trend your closet is missing, you can make up your mind on the bag of your dream. The best option, of course, would be to purchase all of them; yet, we have to be realistic. Unless your father is a multimillionaire, you better limit your choice. If you still hesitate about the desired piece, don’t rush. Another portion of sauciest bags is yet to come!

I explore the world through the prism of fashion. Fashion is my everything: my universe, my air, my alter ego. I do my best to suit society, but when society does not bother to accept my way - I see no point in climbing up the mountain. It is the same with fashion: if they do not get what you wear, it is not your clothes that are to be trashed.
