Karla Deras – Popular Fashion Blogger and Jewellery Designer
Karla Deras is a US-based fashion blogger. A member of chictophiadotcom, she writes her own fashion blog Karla’s Closet where she demonstrates her looks. For the everyday wear Karla prefers to blend vintage clothing from the legendary fashion brands like Versace with the contemporary attire. I would characterize her personal style as utterly feminine, a bit edgy and sophisticated.
An interesting fact from Karla’s life: she was a member of the American girl band the Slumber Party Girls, which was a house band at TV show Dance Revolution.
After starting Karla’s Closet back in April 2008, this LA girl rapidly made her way into the fashion blogosphere owing to her original vintage-inspired looks with West Coast allure. Shortly after she developed her blog into an online shop, where Karla sells her finds from the flea markets and vintage stores.
Owing to her unique sense of style and ability to mix and match garments into the edgy and yet feminine outfits, Karla caught the attention of famous fashion brands like Elie Saab and Coach. In the result both brands collaborated with Karla to launch the limited-edition accessory collections along with promotional videos.
But the real success was the position of the jewellery designer for Roman Luxe Karla got in February 2012. Having a degree in apparel manufacturing, Karla took on the new job with ease. Her unique jewelery collection includes the earrings made from unusual materials like lapis lazuli and python as well as chunky gold rings, bracelets with geometrical elements etc.
Deras commented on her collection:
I was inspired by the idea of creating jewellery I’ve always wanted to own but could never find, pieces that are expressive but also versatile.
Karla on things that inspire her creations:
I’m constantly collecting images, whether from magazines, blogs, or artwork, and taking photos when scouring vintage stores. Making mood boards is essential—it helps to visually organize everything that makes an impression on me.
Karla states that each of her jewellery pieces feature natural elements like crystals, stones or metal.
