NYFW: J. Crew Fall 2013 Collection
J. Crew presented their Fall 2013 collection full of stylish looks full of prints, colorful separates, and cool accessories. The line consists of cropped printed pants, suits, skirts and tops. Paired with the neutral oversize tops and trousers the printed pieces are also mixed with printed accessories like scarves, shoes and caps.
The shapes and silhouettes are elegant and the tailoring is clean and neat. The pleat trousers are the main focus but there are also shorts, skinny pants and sporty pants can be found in the collection with some skirts and dresses.
The prints range from geometric to floral to houndstooth and they also come in shoes, bags, coats and gloves. There are many ways of balancing out the prints, a neutral look finished off with the printed shoes (photo above) is one way. J. Crew demonstrates many more, including matching and clashing the prints and adding a solid item in between two printed clothes items.
The styles also get mixed when it comes to pairing strict coats and shiny patterned pants, or black suit with a patterned embellished coat. The sport style also found its way to J. Crew’s Fall 2013 collection as the sporty pants are paired with a shirt and a blazer or caps are added to a pencil skirt look.
The accessories in the collection feature metallic finishes as do some of the shoes. The latter vary in styles, colors and finishes ranging from kne high boots to ankle strap heels and laced up sandals.
Cool clutches and gloves, sunglasses and statement necklaces are there to stand out against no less bright and bold clothes or spruce up the neutral basic items. The printed scarves is also another way to wear prints if you just want to try it.
