River Island Finally Creates Activewear
Activewear is hot right now, so many designer and fast-fashion brands have jumped on it and launched a sports collection. The latter one to join the new lucrative market is River Island. The British brand is all about translating the latest trends into stylish affordable clothes so I’m sure many hoped for it to do activewear as well.
Activewear is such a huge market at the moment – with athleisure and wellness both being huge trends, we felt 2016 was the right time to launch the collection, especially with the ever rising presence of fitness sensations on social media, says designer Hannah Hope.
It’s true. Even celebs like Beyonce are going after those activewear sales rather than casual fashion. Rihanna has teamed up with Puma to do a more sportswear-like collection and model Coco Rocha has definitely taken some cues from sportswear to create her own line.
The RI Active collection is about to hit the stores in May. We can expect the common things like crop tops, shorts and leggings, vests and padded gilets as well as some fleeces and hooded ponchos. The line will consist of 23 pieces in sizes 6 to 18. There is also a promise of bright colors, urban camouflage prints and slogans.
The brand’s Spring 2016 collection is a reliable mix of latest trends including denim and brights. Expect lots of ruffles and stripes and form-flattering silhouettes. The orange zipper skirt and the LBD look fantastic while the denim swimsuit will certainly turn heads at the beach. The asymmetric printed dress with ruffles and a matching scarf is easily a summer dress of the year. What do you think?
